All travellers must hold a valid passport.

• Has sufficient blank pages for immigration stamps.

• Is in good condition and free from significant damage.

Some airlines may have additional passport requirements, so please check with your airline before travelling.

Visa and entry requirements vary depending on your nationality, country of residence and the purpose of your visit.

It is your responsibility to:

• Check whether you require a visa or entry permit.

• Submit visa applications in sufficient time before departure.

• Ensure your passport, visa and other travel documents remain valid throughout your trip.

Many travellers to Ghana are required to present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate upon arrival.

We recommend seeking advice from your doctor or travel clinic well before departure regarding:

• Recommended vaccinations

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and should be arranged before travelling.

Your policy should ideally include cover for:

• Emergency medical treatment

• Medical evacuation

• Trip cancellation

• Travel delays

• Lost or damaged baggage

• Personal belongings

• Personal liability

Travel insurance is not included with your tour.

FLIGHTS

Motherland Journeys UK specialises in private guided tours within Ghana.

Travellers are responsible for arranging and paying for their own international and domestic flights.

We recommend waiting until your tour booking has been confirmed before purchasing flights.

ACCOMMODATION

Motherland Journeys UK does not book or arrange accommodation.

Travellers are responsible for booking accommodation that suits their own preferences and budget.

If requested, we're happy to recommend trusted hotels and accommodation providers that previous guests have enjoyed.

ARRIVAL IN GHANA

Your personalised itinerary will clearly explain where your tour begins.

If airport transfers are included in your booking, full collection details will be provided before your arrival.

If airport transfers are not included, travellers are responsible for making their own way to the agreed tour meeting point.

MONEY & PAYMENTS

The official currency of Ghana is the Ghanaian Cedi (GHS).

Credit and debit cards are accepted at many hotels, restaurants and larger businesses, although cash is still widely used.

We recommend carrying some local currency for markets, smaller shops and everyday purchases.

ELECTRICITY

Ghana uses:

• 230 Volt electricity

• Type G electrical sockets (the same plug type used in the United Kingdom)

Visitors travelling from other countries should bring a suitable travel adaptor.

MOBILE PHONES & INTERNET

Wi-Fi is available at many hotels, cafés and restaurants, although speeds may vary.

Many visitors choose to purchase a local SIM card or eSIM for affordable mobile data during their stay.

PACKING SUGGESTIONS

We recommend bringing:

• Lightweight clothing

• Comfortable walking shoes

• Hat

• Sunglasses

• Sunscreen

• Insect repellent

• Rain jacket during the rainy season

• Personal medication

• Travel adaptor

• Portable power bank

MEDICAL CONDITIONS & MEDICATION

If you take prescription medication, please bring enough for the duration of your trip and keep it in its original packaging where possible.

If you have medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements or mobility needs, please let us know before your booking is confirmed so we can make reasonable arrangements wherever possible.

RESPECTING LOCAL CULTURE

Ghana is renowned for its welcoming people, rich traditions and diverse cultural heritage.

We encourage all travellers to:

• Dress respectfully when visiting traditional communities and places of worship.

• Ask permission before photographing individuals.

• Respect local customs and traditions.

• Support local businesses where possible.

• Help preserve Ghana's cultural and historical sites.

Your safety and wellbeing are important to us.

Although Ghana is regarded as one of West Africa's most welcoming destinations, we encourage all travellers to:

• Keep valuables secure.

• Remain aware of their surroundings.

• Follow the guidance of local guides.

• Keep copies of important travel documents.

• Respect local laws and customs.

It is your responsibility to check the latest official travel advice and entry requirements issued by the relevant government authorities before travelling.

Motherland Journeys UK cannot accept responsibility for travel disruption, additional costs or refused entry resulting from missing or invalid documentation, changes to entry requirements or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
